It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her newest gem.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
